EAST LANSING — Construction heated up at Michigan State University this summer, and arriving students may never realize the number of orange barrels, traffic signs and construction trailers that dotted their campus’ landscape.
Ken McFarlane started with MSU’s Infrastructure Planning and Facilities department in April, and his colleagues have confirmed it was one intense summer for additions, renovations, and other construction projects.
“During the summer, if you were to drive around campus, you’d see eight to 10 major projects going on,” he said. “That’s a lot. They tear up the roads. They’ve got a lot of steel compression going on at some of the sites, some demolition work happening…
