Myrtle Beach City Council approves amended ordinance that defines ‘resisting arrest’

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A Myrtle Beach ordinance that defines what it means to resist arrest will soon have new wording after an amendment was approved by the city council.

Ordinance 14-63a in the Myrtle Beach code of ordinances defines what it means to resist arrest.

“It shall be unlawful for any person, after having been placed under arrest or taken into custody by a law enforcement officer, to physically resist arrest, whether actively or by flight.”

On Tuesday, the Myrtle Beach City Council approved the second reading of an amendment to this ordinance. According to the agenda, the amendment would change the wording to better define “resisting arrest.”…
