Frankford, DE – A Chesapeake, Virginia man is facing multiple felony charges after Delaware State Police say they recovered a loaded handgun, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia from his vehicle during a traffic stop in the early morning hours.
Trooper Spots Vehicle Speeding on Dupont Boulevard
According to authorities, the incident happened on August 11th around 1:24 a.m. when a trooper on patrol observed a Lincoln MKS speeding along Dupont Boulevard. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Demetrius Daniels. During the initial contact, police say the trooper noticed what appeared to be an extended handgun magazine partially hidden next to the passenger’s seat.
Arrest and Vehicle Search Uncover Weapons and Drugs
Police reported that Daniels was taken into custody on the spot. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun with ammunition, an additional magazine, a quantity of marijuana, and a digital scale often associated with drug distribution.
According to a statement from the Delaware State Police, the evidence was seized and secured, and the firearm was determined to be operational and fully loaded at the time of discovery.
Bond Set at Over $66,000
Following his arrest, Daniels was transported to the Sussex Correctional Institution, where he is currently being held on a $66,252 secured bond. Authorities have not released further details about whether additional charges may be filed pending further investigation.
