LUBBOCK, Texas — A Lubbock woman, Auntwenette Chanee Kinney, 34, agreed to take a guilty plea on Wednesday for Theft of Government Property.

According to a factual resume, on or about the afternoon of October 1, 2024, a Deputy U.S. Marshall stopped at a pet store in the 6000 block of Marsha Sharp Freeway in his government vehicle. He had left the keys in his vehicle and when he returned they were gone, the factual resume said.
Later that day, a Lubbock Police Department (LPD) officer found the abandoned vehicle in front of a home near 32nd Street and Kewanee Avenue. LPD dusted the vehicle for fingerprints and matched them to an apartment. LPD said it responded to that apartment in the past for a domestic disturbance between a man, called “S.G.” in the document, and his girlfriend, Kinney. According to the factual resume, the owner of the apartment said S.G. and Kinney returned from Target that afternoon and said they had stolen a U.S. Marshal’s vehicle.

S.G. told authorities Kinney had stolen the vehicle and “that he was in the passenger seat, but got out after he saw a backpack with a U.S. Marshals Service patch on it in the back seat and told Kinney she should do the same.”
The factual resume said Kinney then admitted to stealing the vehicle and said she threw the car keys in a trash can at a nearby McDonald’s. Kinney admitted she committed the crimes listed in count one of the indictment. She remained in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $6,250 bond…
