Today in History – Aug. 13: Rose Theater building added onto national historic places registry

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – On this day in history, in 1974, what is now known as The Rose Theater was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The current Rose Blumkin Performing Arts Center opened in 1926 as The Riviera. The theater was a highly elegant entertainment facility at that time.

It fell on hard times in 1929, but had shows, concerts, movies, even a bowling team throughout the years before it became what we all know it as today: a place where young people can express themselves through art and performance…
