PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A teen drowned in the Columbia River Wednesday night and the body was recovered the following morning, authorities said.
According to Clark County Fire District 6, witnesses reported a 16-year-old was swimming in the river near Frenchman’s Bar when he went underwater and never resurfaced.
Boats, swimmers, multiple engines and a helicopter responded to search for the missing teen, but despite efforts, the situation went from being a rescue to a recovery.
