North Lake Tahoe to update emergency systems thanks to $700k grant

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — A $700,000 grant awarded to the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District (NLTFPD) aims to improve the emergency systems in place there and get ahead of any natural disasters, namely wildfires.

“I think a lot of people get especially concerned about the fires, especially this time of the year based on recent fires in recent years. I think it’s a good addition to the neighborhood and it will be good for everybody,” Incline Village resident Reed Payne said.

The grant funding will allow the fire protection district to purchase fire detection cameras, two-way radios, an emergency alert system — which could be a town siren or horn — and new wildfire training tools…
