Man sentenced to over 20 years in prison for east Asheville hotel shooting

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A man will spend more than 20 years in prison after admitting to shooting two people at an east Asheville hotel in February 2025.

The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office said that 22-year-old Edzavious Javon Lindsay pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and larceny of a firearm on Aug. 12.

The charges stem from the Feb. 24, 2025, shooting at the Econo Lodge on Tunnel Road. Asheville police said they responded to the hotel at around 11:11 p.m. and found a man with two gunshot wounds—one to the chest and another to the leg. A woman was also found with two gunshot wounds, one of which severed her sciatic nerve. The DA’s office said the woman’s 2-year-old daughter was sleeping beside her at the time of the shooting.
