Fayetteville City Council action gives College Lakes residents more time to fight 7-Eleven

Residents of a north Fayetteville neighborhood, who oppose the construction of a gas station at its entrance, will get more time to plead their case to the City Council.

Members of the Fayetteville City Council voted 9-1 on Aug. 11 to remove from the agenda a request to rezone property being considered for a 7-Eleven at an entrance to the College Lakes neighborhood.

Nearly two dozen supporters of the residents from the neighborhood crowded the City Council meeting in hopes that council members would agree to hold off on approving the 7-Eleven project, which was part of the consent agenda. Consent items typically pass easily with little or no comment unless they are pulled out for further consideration…
