Site once proposed for $100M science center to revert back to city of Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — The site where a $100 million science museum once was going to be built is set to revert back to the city of Knoxville.

Entrepreneur and philanthropist Jim Clayton once had plans to build the center on the old city-owned Knoxville Police Department site on Howard Baker Junior Avenue and Hill Avenue. Those plans, however, never materialized, and the city announced in April the project was dead for that location.

Instead, Clayton announced Thursday afternoon the now cleared site would be coming back to the city for its uses…
