Historic Knoxville home built in 1889 up for sale

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A historic Knoxville home dating back over 130 years is back on the market.

The sprawling six-bedroom home at 505 E Scott Ave, known as the Lou-Mar House, was constructed in 1889. It was designed by David Getaz, a French-born architect who also built the Knox County Courthouse and Eureka Hall in Asheville, North Carolina.

Knoxville home prices remain high as demand outpaces affordable listings

Located in the Happy Holler neighborhood, the Lou-Mar House features nine-stained glass windows, seven ornamental fireplaces, and a grand foyer crafted with six different kinds of wood.

The house features plenty of modern amenities despite its 19th-century origins. A large family room addition above a three-car garage has expanded the home’s already sizeable footprint. A five-ton HVAC system was added in 2022 and bathrooms have been updated with marble and custom cabinetry.

A renovated two-bedroom carriage house as well as a separate workshop space also sit on the North Knoxville property. It also features and outdoor kitchen and lounge with a gas fireplace and sound system.
