NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The mother and father of a child who died from a gunshot wound at a South Nashville hospital are now charged with homicide.
On Friday, August 8, six-year-old Cyprien Argueta Romero was brought to TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
His parents, 37-year-old Fredy Martinez and 28-year-old Karen Argueta-Salgado, initially told detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department that the boy was playing with his brother in their yard in Paragon Mills when he was injured.
Inconsistencies in their accounts of what happened led detectives to investigate further, which led them to trace the parents’ location the day of the incident, using GPS technology in their vehicle, according to a report.
