Isley Traditional Magnet transitions to K-8 school

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – As all Wichita students return to the classroom on Wednesday, at least one school is undergoing a significant transition.

Isley Traditional Magnet, which was previously an elementary school, has welcomed 100 sixth graders this year as it shifts to a K-8 model, accommodating students from kindergarten through eighth grade.

The district said the change will allow students to participate in middle school offerings such as band and orchestra. Additionally, the K-8 option is expected to facilitate a smoother transition for students as they progress to middle school…
