Smollett Blasts Chicago Officials in New Interview

Additional Coverage:

Actor Jussie Smollett continues to maintain his innocence in the 2019 alleged hate crime incident, and he isn’t holding back on who he believes is responsible. In a recent interview, Smollett pointed fingers at former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Police Department, labeling them “villains” in the ongoing saga.

He insists he was attacked by two masked men, but charges against him for allegedly faking the incident were eventually dropped. Smollett believes he was framed and even suggested a connection between his case and the controversial 2014 police shooting of Laquan McDonald, questioning Emanuel’s role in both.

Smollett compared his treatment by the media to that of Michael Jackson, claiming his story has been twisted and sold for profit. He expressed frustration, stating, “Every single other person’s story has changed multiple times. Mine has never.”

The two brothers initially identified as Smollett’s attackers have claimed the incident was a hoax orchestrated by Smollett himself. However, an upcoming Netflix documentary, “The Truth About Jussie Smollett?”, promises to explore evidence that may cast doubt on his guilt.

Smollett recently settled a civil lawsuit with the city of Chicago without admitting liability, donating $50,000 to charity. Former Mayor Emanuel declined to comment on Smollett’s recent statements.
