Car crashes into memorial tree honoring Gainesville student murders victims

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – One of the trees in Gainesville that was planted in memory of the University of Florida students killed in 1990 was struck by a vehicle on Thursday evening.

Officials say a car crashed into a palm tree on Southwest 34th Street in Gainesville. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
