A suspect has been arrested in connection to a vicious assault on Harpal Singh, a member of the Sikh community, in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, according to authorities. The Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Area detectives stated that on August 4, 2025, officers were dispatched in response to an assault with a deadly weapon on the 7500 block of Lankershim Boulevard.
During the preliminary investigation, witnesses reported an altercation involving metal objects used as weapons. Singh was allegedly attacked while on the ground and sustained serious injuries including a skull fracture and potential brain trauma, and was later hospitalized. The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle, only to be apprehended a week later. Bo Richard Vitagliano, 44, is identified as the alleged assailant. In a statement obtained by the LAPD, the detectives believe the assault stemmed from a property dispute and was not motivated by hate.
Vitagliano, who is unhoused with a history of narcotics and weapons-related offenses, was taken into custody on August 11, 2025. The LAPD report notes that his arrest occurred when North Hollywood officers observed him alongside his bicycle, which matched surveillance footage, at the corner of Lankershim Boulevard and Arminta Street.
