Longtime pilot ‘suspicious’ of fatal plane crash in Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Robert Katz has concerns about the National Transportation Safety Board’s report on the plane crash that killed one man and injured another Aug. 1 in the Maplewood neighborhood.

“I’m suspicious of this case, the fuel situation,” said Katz, a pilot from Texas who has 43 years of aviation experience. “I’m thinking it wasn’t an engine problem, but really a fuel starvation problem.”

According to the report, a Piper J5C plane with two people on board crashed onto Bridge View Drive, just north of State Route 104. The crash killed the passenger, who was the owner of the plane. The unidentified pilot survived with serious injuries…
