Cat-astrophe avoided as Burien Police save kittens from heat

With temperatures climbing to 91 degrees on Tuesday, August. 12, 2025, Burien Police deputies paws-ed their patrols Tuesday to save a litter of overheated kittens trapped in an outdoor vent, preventing what could have surely would have been a cat-astrophe.

Deputies responded to a call reporting faint meows coming from the vent. Inside, they found several wide-eyed kittens struggling in the sweltering conditions.

The kittens were removed from the vent and taken to Burien CARES, where they received care, cool air and a safe place to rest…
