FIRST ALERT: Afternoon storms this weekend with growing beach hazards!

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Scattered storms are likely to impact some of your outdoor plans this weekend in advance of Hurricane Erin’s offshore passage next week!

A weak front is slowly moving across the Lowcountry tonight as an area of low pressure (tagged with a very low chance of short-term tropical development) forms off the North Carolina coast. Although the chance of rain looks to remain low, expect patchy clouds and mild temperatures to govern the forecast tonight. Through early Saturday morning, temperatures should hover in the 70s.

Similar to Friday, afternoon showers and thunderstorms will develop on Saturday – some of which may produce heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. As the aforementioned front weakens, rain chances should become less numerous on Sunday before a mainly dry forecast returns next week…
