A Cincinnati man, Anthony Marcus Kelly, 38, who was arrested for threats made online against ICE officers, has been indicted by a federal grand jury. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio released a statement detailing the indictment, which includes charges of making threats to assault or murder a United States official and making threatening interstate communications.
Documents from the charging state that Kelly, using the handle “Slab,” posted calls for violence against ICE officers on social media from June 26 through July 17. In the posts, he allegedly spoke of acquiring firearms specifically for these threats. One post read, “Why even bother with these damn courts anymore. #Gestapedos don’t deserve anything but the smoke coming for them anyway. #RevolutionIsTheSolution #DestroyICE they’re rabid dogs that need to be put down. Including #KristiNoem #DogmeatWalking.” Kelly openly threatened direct confrontation with law enforcement, saying, in a statement obtained by the U.S. Department of Justice, “You come here for me, you’re getting shot. And I’m not looking to disable […] I’m shooting for the kill. I won’t give a **** about your names, who you are, or anything else.”
Since his arrest on July 22, Kelly has been in federal custody. He faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison for threatening to assault or murder an United States official, and up to five years for making threatening interstate communications.
