MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Alabama State Board of Education met in Montgomery Thursday morning, which was their first meeting since the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
Dr. Eric Mackey, Alabama’s state superintendent, said their goal is not just to get students back to school for day one; he said their goal is get students back in the classroom day after day.
“We need students in the classroom,” said Mackey. “If we’re going to teach them and they’re going to continue to progress, and so you’re going to see a big emphasis on attendance.”…
