(KRON) — A woman is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a driver hit the victim while she was walking her dog Thursday night, said the Santa Rosa Police Department. The dog was also struck in the incident, according to police.

SRPD said officers, along with fire and medical personnel, arrived at 7:25 p.m. near Northwest Community Park, on the 2600 block of W. Steele Lane for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
“SRPD Dispatch received multiple 911 calls stating that a pedestrian who was walking her dog had been struck while crossing W. Steele Lane toward the park,” said Santa Rosa police. “The vehicle involved was identified as a grey Honda that was stopped at the scene.”
The woman was found by officials as she lay unconscious in the westbound lane of W. Steel Lane. She was taken to a nearby hospital while her dog was taken by Sonoma County Animal Control officers to a local veterinary hospital…
