Orlando Jones to host benefit comedy show in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Veteran actor and comedian Orlando Jones is coming back to Wilmington to host a benefit comedy show. The Stand Up for OOPS Comedy Show will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 22 at The Terraces at Sir Tyler, and will benefit the OOPS Foundation, an organization that helps highly at-risk adolescents break cycles of negative risk-taking, violence, and addiction in the Wilmington area.

“I’ve been on the Board of the OOPS Foundation, set up by Atiba Johnson, for a while,” said Jones, who lived in Wilmington for years but now resides primarily in California. “It helps people who are disadvantaged in the Wilmington community. If you need help, they’ll really help you get through the difficult time that you’re in. I’ve always loved what they’ve done and they hit me up and said, ‘Hey, we want to do a stand-up concert. We want to raise some money. We need you to come back to Wilmington!’ So, I’m back August 22nd!”

There will be several comedians performing at the show, including Dallas Brown, Jr, Tru Spit, Charles Ozuna, Khristin Brooks, Janeen Slaughter and Nazzy the Mic. The headliner will be Loni Love, the Emmy-award winning comedian, author, actor and host of The Real
