High E. coli levels in Rio Grande prompts order on fishing and swimming

PUEBLO OF ISLETA, N.M. — High levels of E. coli in the Rio Grande in New Mexico has prompted an order on fishing and swimming in the river.

Eugene Jiron, the governor of the Pueblo of Isleta, issued an order Wednesday, Aug. 13, banning fishing and swimming in the river in the pueblo area. Jiron stated the order is to protect the health and safety of the community but it doesn’t affect the public drinking water supply…
