Robeson’s Boys of Fall are back

I think anyone who loves high school football can relate to the lyrics of Kenny Chesney’s “The Boys of Fall.” They’re even more sentimental for people of a certain age, like myself, who were in high school when the song came out and lived out those lyrics on Friday nights, either watching The Boys of Fall from the bleachers or, even better, being one of them.

Nowadays, when I hear the particular verse written above — sometimes even on the way to a football field on a fall Friday night — I feel that it so perfectly captures the atmosphere during football season in the small towns of the South, including here in Robeson County…
