FEC to temporarily shut down Donald Ross, Northlake, and Burns for railway upgrades

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) — Drivers in Palm Beach Gardens should prepare for temporary railway crossing closures later this month as the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) begins crossing improvements at several key intersections.

According to a press release from the City of Palm Beach Gardens on Friday, the FEC will fully close three railway crossings on consecutive dates to complete infrastructure upgrades. Detour routes are currently being finalized and will be announced soon.

Here’s the closure schedule:

  • Donald Ross Road: Full closure from 6 p.m. on August 20 through midnight on August 23
  • Northlake Boulevard: Full closure from 6 p.m. on August 23 through midnight on August 26
  • Burns Road: Full closure from 6 p.m. on August 26 through midnight on August 28

The upcoming closure comes two weeks after Northlake Boulevard was shut down at the CSX railroad crossing near Beeline Highway. That project, which caused major commuter delays, was completed ahead of schedule and reopened on August 9 — just in time for the first day of school…
