No charges against officers in Dexter Reed case

The police officers who fatally shot motorist Dexter Reed numerous times during a questionable traffic stop will not be charged with a crime, Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke announced this week.

A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department said meanwhile, the three officers who are still with the department remain on administrative leave, pointing out that the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) investigation into the matter is ongoing.
