LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — An illegal immigrant from Honduras has been sentenced to 20 years for Negligent Homicide and five years for fleeing the scene of an accident after striking and killing an Arkansas Children’s Hospital employee. Friday’s hearing, involving coworkers, family and church friends of the victim, had not one empty seat on the bench and almost no dry eye in the courtroom.
The late Jennifer Morton, the Arkansas Children’s Hospital respiratory therapist of nearly 25 years, was on her way to work when Maynor Sorto-Herrera, 31, hit her SUV head on.
Sorto-Herrera had a blood alcohol level of 0.188%, more than double the legal limit, and methamphetamine in his system on the morning of Sept. 8, 2024. He was driving on the wrong side of the road on Arch St. in Little Rock. Sorto-Herrera had deported from the United States in 2018 before reentering the country illegally…
