Hot with chance for isolated showers this weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Another hot day on the South Plains. Lubbock’s high temperature today was 98 degrees; that’s 5 degrees above normal.

There have been a few scattered showers and isolated storms in the eastern communities on this Friday, but those have been along and east of the Caprock. The isolated showers/storms will decrease this evening.

There is a chance for a similar event Saturday with isolated showers and maybe a few storms anywhere over the region. Any storms that develop will decrease in the evening hours.

Sunday will bring a greater chance of showers and thunderstorms to eastern New Mexico, and those storms should move into the west and northwestern South Plains late afternoon and evening.

Otherwise, the heat will continue with low to mid-90s for afternoon high temperatures on Saturday and Sunday. Although, the maximum temps should drop a couple of degrees over the weekend…
