WPD identifies 14-year-old killed after high-speed crash at Harry and Rock, suspect on the loose

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Wichita police are searching for a 19-year-old man accused of being the driver in a high-speed crash that killed a 14-year-old boy. The crash happened on Wednesday near Harry and Rock Road.

Around 6:30 p.m., a nearby Kansas Highway Patrol trooper in the area saw the aftermath of the accident and saw two men running from a black BMW that had crashed. After a short chase, both men were apprehended.

According to the preliminary investigation, police said the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit a power pole and then a utility box. The impact forced the power pole and utility box into 14-year-old Jackson Nzabonimpa. The teenager died on the scene…
