Rock icon and former General Hospital star Rick Springfield penned a moving tribute to his late co-star, Tristan Rogers, who passed away on August 15th at age 79 after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Springfield, who played Dr. Noah Drake alongside Rogers’ Robert Scorpio, shared his grief in an Instagram post, reflecting on their shared Australian heritage.
“Aussies are made of tough stuff,” he wrote, “but even tough stuff has its expiration date.” He went on to praise Rogers as a “charming, self-deprecating, handsome and witty bloke,” offering a heartfelt “Bless and keep your spirit Tristan.”
Springfield concluded his message with a poignant reflection on mortality: “We all have our expiration date stamped on us somewhere. Cancer sucks.
Celebrate life and make friends with death. Well done brother, well done.”
The post resonated with fans, accumulating over 650 comments in less than 24 hours, with many expressing their sadness and sharing fond memories of Rogers’ time on the show. Fellow General Hospital star Kristina Wagner simply commented, “Beautiful.”
Springfield’s tribute was just one of many pouring in from the General Hospital community. Several other cast members, including Genie Francis, Kin Shriner, Emma Samms, Kimberly McCullough, John J. York, and Finola Hughes, also shared their condolences and memories of the beloved actor.
