Cobb County Man Charged with Murder in Connection to Atlanta Shooting

Yesterday, authorities reported the arrest of Tije Sorells, a 20-year-old man from Cobb County, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this summer in Atlanta. According to the Atlanta Police Department, Sorells has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Atlanta.

The initial investigation began on June 6, when Atlanta police officers responded to a call at 3691 Collier Dr. NW. Upon arrival at approximately 5:49 p.m., they discovered an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound. Tragically, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. The Homicide Unit, was dispatched, and they have been working to piece together the events that led to the young man’s untimely death. As is standard practice, the Atlanta Police Department has reminded the public that an arrest does not equate to a conviction, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The case has remained active and ongoing with detectives from the Homicide Unit conducting in-depth investigations to understand the full scope of the incident. It is not yet clear what prompted the encounter that led to the shooting or if the victim and Sorells knew each other prior to the incident…
