Sidewalk Film Festival kicking off with ‘Alabama Spotlight Night’

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The 27th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival starts Monday with “Alabama Spotlight Night,” a selection of films with ties to Alabama.

The “Alabama Spotlight Night” showings will take place at Sidewalk Cinema, and they will be preceded by a happy hour that will give visitors the chance to mingle with Alabama filmmakers.

Here’s a list of short films that will be featured in this event:

  • “What if?” — Directed by Emma Bradley Bothwell
  • “The Wilhelm Scream” — Directed by Anna Quinlan
  • “Fail Year” — Directed by Beau Shepherd, Apollo Shepherd
  • “It Draws Closer” — Directed by Joshua David Matthews
  • “Next Show in 90 Minutes” — Directed by John T. Hill
  • “b[Reach]” — Directed by Rachel Hendrix
  • “A Place to Be Fed” — Directed by Billy Ivey
  • “Neither Donkey Nor Horse” — Directed by Robin Wang

This event also includes two sold-out showings of “Forward, Ever,” a feature-length documentary that focuses on Birmingham-Southern College’s basketball team. The film was directed by Jason Sciavicco…
