Millions of dollars are coming to facilitate upgrades at a Niagara County hospital.
Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has been awarded $28.4 million through New York State’s Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program IV. It will go toward modernizing facilities and strengthening emergency services.
Planned projects supported by the grant include:
- Replace the aging parking garage with a new, modern structure
- Relocate departments currently housed in the existing garage building to updated, more functional spaces
- Create a new 12-bed Step-Down Unit to support patients who need intermediate care between the ICU and general medical-surgical floors
- Renovate the S-2 Medical-Surgical Unit for improved comfort, efficiency, and patient experience
- Install a state-of-the-art telemetry system to monitor 79 inpatient beds
- Update and enhance the Women’s Health Pavilion to better serve patients and families
- Modernize the Surgery Department and GI Unit with advanced equipment and improved layouts
- Enclose the Emergency Department’s Fast Track Unit bays to improve privacy and the overall patient experience
- Add new backup generators and an upgraded emergency electrical system to ensure uninterrupted patient care
- Replace the boiler deaerator tank to improve heating system reliability and efficiency
