Greenville, S.C. – Muggy, summer heat will hold across much of South Carolina Friday, with some areas feeling like triple digits despite slightly fewer storms than earlier in the week. Heat index values could reach 98–101°F in the Upstate and parts of the Midlands, making outdoor activities dangerous without precautions.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, though coverage should be less widespread than the past two days. The highest storm chances will be along and south of I-85, with brief downpours and lightning possible.
High humidity will keep conditions uncomfortable even outside of storm activity. Residents in Greenville, Anderson, Spartanburg, and nearby counties should limit strenuous outdoor work during peak heat hours and drink plenty of water.
