Dangerous heat with only spotty rain this weekend

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Dangerous heat will be the top weather headline heading into the weekend for Tampa Bay.

Temperatures will warm quickly each day to day through Sunday into the mid-90s. Excessive humidity has settled in and feels like temperatures will be up to 110° each afternoon. It will be important to stay hydrated and take breaks from the heat over the next few days.

Spotty showers and thunderstorms will develop each afternoon. Isolated showers generally begin to pop up shortly after lunch time and storms will slowly meander through the early evening hours.

The best rain chance will be Sunday and Monday with more moisture making its way in.

Temperatures will stay above average heading into next week but the humidity will back off a bit. Rain chances will come back down to average at a 40% each afternoon.

The tropics remain active with Invest 98L in the western Gulf. The National Hurricane Center gives it a medium chance of developing as it drifts northwest. A tropical depression could briefly form before it brings rain to southern Texas…
