LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Patches Rutherford’s life changed forever when a gunman opened fire at Richmond Road Baptist Church on July 13, killing her sister, Christina Combs, and her mother, Beverly Gumm.
She says she’s still in disbelief at the amount of support her family has received over the past month.
“I always knew my mom and Christina were special people, but just like even at the funeral, just all the people that were there, it was like standing room only; people were outside of the church. Everybody coming up and ‘I knew your sister from school,’ or ‘I knew your sister from work,’ or ‘I knew your mom from this or that,’ and just how many people actually really just loved them so much,” Rutherford told FOX 56.
