MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A new record was set yesterday in North Myrtle Beach. Showers and storms yesterday produced 1.06″ of rain, which brings the summer total (since June 1) to 24.83″ of rain, making it the wettest summer on record, and there’s still more than two weeks left in August. The previous wettest summer was 2024, but that was due to rainfall from two tropical systems (PTC 8 and Tropical Storm Debby).
Thunderstorms and most of the cloud cover are offshore as a cold front is pushed down from the northwest across the area. Skies are mostly clear over the Pee Dee, but there will be some fog in the morning.
Not as rainy today, thanks to the cold front moving through earlier, storms will be isolated, but it will still be hot and humid with the temperatures in the low-90s and the heat index over 100 degrees…
