Murfreesboro planting pollinator gardens in city

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — Pollinators have been on the decline in Tennessee due to development and pollution, but Murfreesboro is making an effort to give them a space to thrive.

Pollinators are crucial to the ecosystem. Without them, there’s no food. They facilitate fertilization and the production of fruits and seeds.

One portion of Barfield Crescent Park in Murfreesboro now has two plots of tall wildflowers planted to attract more bees, butterflies, bats and birds. The plots will help build up the pollinator population citywide, according to city officials…
