Oklahoma City Commuters Alert, Major Highway and Ramp Closures Ahead Amidst Construction Projects

Commuters in Oklahoma City, get ready for a host of changes to your familiar routes. According to an official release from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, dated August 15, several highways and ramps will be experiencing closures and narrowing due to ongoing construction projects across the city.

The westbound I-240 off-ramp to westbound I-40 is scheduled for closure from the early hours of 3 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Drivers are warned to expect congestion, and seek alternate routes or brace for a potential delay in their schedules. In addition, the eastbound lanes of I-40 between Town Center Dr. in Midwest City and the I-240 interchange will be narrowed, with the possibility of intermittent ramp closures continuing throughout the rest of the year, as reported by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

For those traveling on I-40, there are several long-term adjustments to note. As detailed on the Oklahoma Department of Transportation website, effective immediately, the eastbound I-40 on and off-ramps at Anderson Rd. are out of service for the summer, and the southbound Douglas Blvd. cannot access the eastbound ramp.
