Shocker Racing revs up at Shock Fest

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita State University’s Shocker Racing team opened its garage Saturday during Shock Fest to showcase what the student-run club is all about: building and competing with miniature Formula 1–style cars.

Since 2005, the team has built a new miniature F1-style car every year from scratch. It’s less about speed and more about engineering, said team captain Gavin Barnes.

New Wichita agency expands foster care with wraparound services

“We just went to Michigan and raced against teams from Brazil, Spain, Germany and all over,” Barnes said. “We finished in the middle of the pack — our best performance yet.”

The group has 25 to 30 active members, all volunteering their time. Their next big stop is an autocross event in Arlington, Texas, this fall…
