First Alert Forecast: critical turn for Erin underway, hazardous surf to develop locally

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – As vicious Hurricane Erin passes 250+ miles east of Cape Fear this week, your First Alert Forecast features toasty days, mild nights, pleasant northerly breezes, and generally low daily rain odds. After ticking up just a bit Sunday, rip current activity will become even more hazardous to inexperienced and intermediate swimmers at all Cape Fear beaches in the week ahead; breakers themselves will top four feet and could locally exceed six. Take care!
