Hot and humid through the weekend

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Dean Jones says more hot and humid weather is expected this weekend and into early next week, then a cold front will bring some heat relief and possible storms.

A warm, breezy and humid start to the day with morning temperatures in the low to mid 70s and mostly clear skies. Afternoon highs will reach the mid 90s to near 100 degrees. South winds will gust up to 30-35 miles per hour with the strongest gusts across western Kansas. An isolated shower or storm may drift into western Kansas overnight, however most areas will remain precipitation free.

The humidity will contribute to dangerous heat indices (mainly east of I-135 corridor). The heat index will reach 100-105 across portions of central and eastern Kansas during the afternoon. A heat advisory is in effect during the afternoon until about sunset. While the temperatures will be hot across western Kansas too, the wind will keep the heat index closer to the temperature during the heat of the afternoon…
