PARIS, Ky. (FOX 56) — Members of the Paris Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) are hoping to find new, loving homes for two emaciated dogs they claim could have come from the same home.
It began on Aug. 6, according to shelter staff, when a dog picked up near Crooked Creek Road by Nicholas County Animal Control officials was brought to Paris for veterinary treatment. He was covered in ticks and had apparently been hit by a car earlier in his life, though not recently.

PAWS members wrote on Facebook that the emaciated dog, named Chaplin, is almost 10 years old. Although a few of his teeth are missing and he walks slowly, officials said he has pep in his step and deserves a family.
Then, on Aug. 16, Groucho was found in Carlisle and taken into the shelter’s care.

“This is the second dog (other dog was Chaplin) within a 3 mile radius, same color and breed mix, same health condition, absolutely covered in ticks and even down to age and the condition of their teeth,” Paris animal advocates wrote. “With the similarities, Animal Control believes they are from the same home.”
Shelter staff said Groucho was very weak.
