ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The 19th annual Festival of India hosted by the India Heritage Society took place in Roanoke’s Elmwood Park Saturday evening.
The festival presents a yearly opportunity for the Roanoke Valley to immerse itself in Indian culture without ever leaving city limits.
“The people who cannot go to India can come here and experience Indian culture,” said Julie Desai of Ava’s Kitchen. “We’re a very old culture, a historical culture. And food is the main thing for us.”…
