LUBBOCK, Texas — A Lubbock family is asking for the community’s help in finding a living kidney donor. Danny Martinez has been on dialysis for six and a half years following his diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease in 2018. Martinez’s wife, Beatriz Pallares, spoke with EverythingLubbock.com about their journey and to bring awareness to the organ donation needs across the region.

Since starting dialysis, he went from treatment at a facility on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to now performing the task at home, with Pallares serving as his dialysis nurse.

However, she said that this her husband’s last time joining the list and they are hoping this time will finally fulfill their donation dreams. “He’s ready to be able to live a normal life again,” said Pallares.
Martinez is currently registered with the San Antonio Methodist Transplant Center but Pallares said Covenant Medical Group is attempting to start a program and has reached out to the family about taking over their needs.
