HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Well it was another hot and humid day today, with temperatures in the mid to upper 90’s and heat indices from 100 to 107 across the area. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the eastern half of Nebraska and northern Kansas, which includes Hastings, Grand Island, and Lincoln until 8:00 PM CDT. Some cloud cover will move in tonight from the west, some of this can already be seen across western Nebraska. Isolated showers and maybe a few rumbles of thunder will be possible later tonight through early tomorrow morning. The best chances remain across northern Nebraska, but a few pop up showers across the rest of Nebraska cannot be ruled out. It will remain warm and humid tonight as temperatures stay in the 70’s for most, with a few upper 60’s to the west. Morning low for Lincoln is expected to be around 76 degrees, 71 to 75 here in the Tri-Cities, and 68 in North Platte. Partly to mostly cloudy skies tomorrow morning will clear out into the afternoon as we warm back into the low to mid 90’s. Dew points remain warm giving us heat indices up to 100 degrees possible once again, especially for the eastern half of the area. Isolated thunderstorm development is possible late tomorrow afternoon across northern Nebraska. Additional storm development is likely later in the evening and expected to move southeast across central Nebraska into the overnight hours. There is a chance a few storms could become strong to marginally severe with small hail and strong wind gusts. Storms should clear out into Monday morning.
Skies clear into Monday afternoon as we warm back up quickly into the 90’s. Expect humid conditions once again in eastern Nebraska with heat indices up to 100 degrees once again. Another chance of showers and storms arrives later Monday evening into early Tuesday morning. A few of those storms could become strong once again with large hail and damaging winds possible. We stay in the 90’s once again Tuesday with another slight chance of thunderstorms later in the evening. We begin to dry out into Wednesday as temperatures slightly cool into the upper 80’s to low 90’s. We’ll stay in the upper 80’s into the end of the work week with mostly clear skies before we cool down into next weekend…
