BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — WHAT WE’RE WATCHING THIS WEEK
Kern County’s coming off of a really nice weekend that was quite a bit cooler than the previous one we had. Saturday’s high of 94 and Sunday’s of 92 were much more tolerable than the 105 of both days a week before!
If you didn’t get enough of these spectacular readings, you might catch another chance today, as the latest indications are that Monday’s afternoon temperatures could be very similar to yesterday’s. This is because large-scale troughing continues from the North Pacific on into California. A very gradual rise in highs could still keep us below average as we head into tomorrow too.
The ridge of high pressure that has taken up residence over the Plains is forecast to make another run westward this week. Its exact position, and length of time there is still in question, but there is fairly good computer model consensus that it will redevelop toward the 4-corners states, and expand as it does so. This will highly favor a significant warmup later on this week…
