LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets is expanding its presence in Kentucky with plans for three new stores, bringing the total to seven, following the addition of four stores already operating in the state.
The Florida-based grocer has signed leases for supermarkets in Georgetown, Louisville and Owensboro, each spanning about 50,000 square feet. The Georgetown and Owensboro locations will include adjacent Publix Liquors stores.
The Georgetown store, planned for Elkhorn Village Center, will mark the city’s first Publix and is expected to employ around 150 people. The Louisville store, in Blankenbaker Plaza, will be the chain’s fourth in the city, while the Owensboro location at Yellow Banks Square will be its second there.
