Man arrested after standoff with police makes first appearance in court

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A man arrested after an hours-long standoff with police made his first appearance in a New Hanover County courtroom Monday morning.

35-year-old Hykeem Gaymon is accused of barricading himself in an apartment in Wilmington on Friday, Aug. 15.

After Gaymon’s court appearance Monday, he now faces six charges:

  • 2 counts of breaking and entering with intent to terrorize.
  • 2 counts of assault on a female.
  • 1 count of assault by pointing a gun.
  • 1 count of resisting a public officer.
